Download Latest Windows Version
IMPORTANT UPDATE INFORMATION: The Missouri Supreme Court has posted a new Order dated June 30, 2017 updating the 2017 Form 14 to incorporate a fix for the Line 5 low income directions. The new, updated Child Support Assistant (version 8.11) is NOW AVAILABLE, incorporating the changes. You MUST install Version 8.11 to be sure your Form 14s are correctly calculated with regard to these changes. The download link is at the bottom of this page.
HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE CHILD SUPPORT ASSISTANT FOR WINDOWS INSTALLATION PROGRAM (including both Missouri and Kansas)
Click the link at the bottom of this page to download The Child Support Assistant Setup Program to your computer. Then run it and follow the prompts.
If you have trouble downloading the file, you may need to temporarily turn off your anti-virus software. Some anti-virus software, particularly Norton's, will block downloads of installation programs from the Internet even if the installation program is digitally signed, as ours is. If you run the installer and get the Windows Defender error in Windows 10, please see #3 under "Installation Issues," below, for detailed instructions.
Please note that if you do not have a license code, once installed the program will run in a limited demonstration mode only. If you'd like to try The Child Support Assistant out, you can request a free trial license.
There are three known issues, described in the next three paragraphs, with installation. The first two can occur when you are installing a new version over an old version, and can be avoided by simply uninstalling the old version, using the Windows Control Panel, before installing the new version. To uninstall, choose "Programs and Features" from the Control Panel (for Windows 7 or 8 users) or "Uninstall a Program" from the Control Panel (for Windows 10 users). The old version will be listed as "The Child Support Assistant 2017" (or 2016, 2014, 2013 or 2012) and will be alphabetized under "T" for "The".
Issue #1: When installing an update to a prior installation of the software, depending on which version of Windows you are running, the Installer may terminate without installing, telling you that you need to uninstall the old version of the program first. If you see this error message, use the Control Panel as described above to uninstall the old version, then rerun the Installer.
Issue #2: If the Installer does not instruct you to delete the old version but, following an apparently successful installation, you get ERROR #53 when first running the program, then uninstall the program with the Control Panel as instructed above and rerun the Installer. The program will work after being reinstalled.
Issue #3: In Windows 10, Windows Defender may display the following message when you try to run the installation program after downloading it: "Windows protected your PC. Windows Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk. More Info". If you see this message, click the "More info" link, which will add a "Run anyway" button to the bottom of the box. Click "Run anyway" to continue with the installation.
NOTE TO USERS OF VERY OLD VERSIONS FROM 2011 OR EARLIER
If you have prior versions of our Missouri software from 2011 or earlier, installing The Child Support Assistant will NOT delete these super old versions of The Form 14 Assistant. You can be sure you are running the new program by running it from the Child Support Assistant 2017 icon that the setup program will install on your desktop. That you are running the new version will be obvious because you will see the "State Selection" screen, with Missouri and Kansas flags in it, when you first start the program. Versions prior to 2012 do not contain this screen.
